The new Swiss sports channel MySports is taking shape: next summer, MySports will go on the air and the channel has already been able to attract renowned experts as editors-in-chief. Alex Burkhalter will establish the French-speaking editorial team and will be responsible for programming in Romandie from next year. Stephan Liniger will put together an editorial team in German-speaking Switzerland in close collaboration with Reto Müller and will oversee MySports’s German-language programming. All three will start their work at MySports in spring 2017 and will play an important role in planning the content of the new sports channel.

Eric Tveter, CEO of UPC, thinks Burkhalter, Liniger and Müller are exactly the right fit for MySports: “All three have many years of experience of working in television – both on the front line as commentators and reporters, but also in the background as producers. They are familiar with all facets of the Swiss sports scene and are highly motivated to take sport in Switzerland to the next level with fresh ideas and new concepts.”

About Alex Burkhalter
With his passion for sport and media, Alex Burkhalter found his place in front of the microphone at an early age. At the age of 23, he began his career at Geneva-based private radio station Radio Lac, which later became Yes FM. After around 10 years in radio, he moved to Teleclub in 2012 as a presenter and commentator. The following year, the now 36-year-old became deputy editor-in-chief in French-speaking Switzerland. Over the past five years, Burkhalter has presented over 330 editions of “Sportstudio”, among other things.

About Stephan Liniger
30-year-old Stephan Liniger has worked as a journalist for various media in the past. He started his career just under 10 years ago as a sports commentator on Radio Energy. In parallel to this, he commentated on handball games for Schweizer Sportfernsehen (SSF) from 2008. Since 2009, Liniger has held various roles at Teleclub, and since 2012 has been a permanent member of the sports editorial team. Liniger is a keen tennis player and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in 2011.

About Reto Müller
After working in radio and for online sports portals such as sporttv.ch, Reto Müller found his way into television: since 2008 he has worked as a presenter, commentator and editor for Teleclub, and for several years now has been the anchorman in the NLA ice hockey studio. In 2013, “Slapshot” magazine called him “the face of ice hockey”. Before entering the world of sports journalism, the 36-year-old worked as a secondary school teacher in the canton of Zurich.
