The Polish public broadcaster TVP has accused the country’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) of a “brutal, politically motivated attack” on its leadership.
TVP was responding directly to the findings of KRRiT’s monitoring of news output by TVP and its two main competitors Polsat and TVN, undertaken between February 4-11.
In it, the regulator was highly critical of TVP, accusing it of concentrating on the activities of the current government and its influence on the political situation in Poland, while Polsat and TVN covered a significantly wider spectrum of events.
In short, it claimed TVP was toeing the ruling (PiS) party line and excluding other arguments from its news output.
TVP, on the other hand, said that it no longer copies the commercial channels and has separated information from comment, providing viewers with what is really important, namely the relevant facts.
It has also appealed to the KRRiT to stop participating in an aggressive campaign against it associated with the former ruling party (PO).
