With a third of Spanish homes considering purchasing an Ultra HD TV set, almost 60% of pay-TV users say they would be willing to pay more in order to get 4K content.
The figure is from a report by SES and Kantar TNS, which found that about a tenth of Spanish households already have a 4K screen, and 44% own a full HD set.
Among those who don’t have an Ultra HD TV, the report revealed that 36.4% are thinking of acquiring one soon with 9.4% saying they will do so within a year.
Most of the Ultra HD TV sets currently in use in Spain were purchased in the last two years and the majority are large, with 44% being over 51”.
Many Spaniards are also interested in watching 4K content, even if it meant paying more for it.
Nearly 35% of non-pay-TV subscribers said they were willing to pay up to €6 a month to get access to Ultra HD video, while 60% of pay-TV subs said they would pay up to €9 extra per month in order to have a wider catalogue of 4K content.
Among those owning a 4K screen with access to 4K content, 30% watch Ultra HD titles on a daily basis, while the rest watch once a week. Films and series are the most valued 4K content.
