Pen India unveils VOD plans with Play My Movie

Pen India, the company headed by Hindi film producer Jayantilal Gada, is developing a video-on-demand (VOD) platform following its recent launch of TV channel Wow Movies and Music.

Pen India logo 8 August 2018The proposed Indian VOD service, called Play My Movie (PMM), will deliver Hindi films, regional films in Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Bengali, and Bhojpuri, and dubbed international films.

The over-the-top (OTT) platform, which is expected to go live within six months, will offer some films for free, while others will be available via subscription or on a pay-per-view basis, Akshay Gada, non executive director of Pen India, told Television Post.

The company’s TV channel Wow Movies and Music, which launched in July, is now available on direct-to-home (DTH) platforms Tata Sky and Airtel Digital, as well as cable networks Hathway, DEN, Siti, InDigital, Seven Star, Sea TV and Fastway Transmission.

Wow Movies and Music currently shows films from 2pm to 10.30pm, followed by musical content. The predominantly Bollywood and south Indian film titles being aired on the channel include Kahaani 2, Race 2, King is Bling, Agneepath, Baaghi, Main Tera Hero, Tanu Weds Manu, Sholay, Don, Himmatwala, Kahaani and Haseena Parkar.

Pen India is reportedly mulling the launch of four more TV channels: a romantic song channel called iLove, a Hindi music channel DreamTV, Bollywood Times News and MTunes HD.
