Star India, Viacom18 prepare for ISL in six languages

India’s football fans will be treated to multi-lingual regional coverage for this season’s Indian Super League (ISL), its owners Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and Star India have announced.

Indian Super League logo 11 Sept 2018ISL season 5, which kicks off on 29 September, will be carried on the Star Sports network, as well as digital platforms Hotstar and Jio TV. Hindi coverage will be carried on the new channel Star Sports 3, while Kannada commentary will be found on Viacom18’s soon-to-launch regional movie channel Colors Kannada Cinema. Viacom18 is controlled by TV18 , which is owned in turn by the ISL’s co-owner RIL.

English and Tamil coverage of the ISL will be provided on Star Sports 1, while a Malayalam feed will be aired on Asianet Movies, and Bengali will be represented on Jalsha Movies.

“It is this essence that fuelled the introduction of the #FanBannaPadega campaign for Season 5 of the Hero Indian Super League, bringing football fans in the country together to support their heroes, their team, and their nation.”

The league’s season commences in India’s football capital, Kolkata, with the home team ATK facing Kerala Blasters FC (KBFC).
