The Slovenian incumbent Telekom Slovenije remains interested in buying its Serbian counterpart Telekom Srbija.
Quoted by Blic, Rudolf Skobe, the former’s chairman of the board, said that his company would have to follow the global trend of consolidation of ownership.
He added that he did not know at this stage if Telekom Slovenije would participate in any new tender, having previously lodged a joint bid with the US fund Apollo.
The Serbian government’s plans to sell Telekom Srbija collapsed last December after the PM said it had not been offered a satisfactory price for the company.
The Serbian state remains the largest shareholder in Telekom Srbija with a 58.11% stake.
Telekom Srbija itself owns 20%, with citizens (14.95%) and current and former employees (6.94%) the remainder.
