Aura, Telefónica’s artificial intelligence (AI), voice-controlled digital assistant, has been implemented into the telco’s pay-TV platform in Spain.

In what is the first integration of Aura with a TV service, the digital assistant will become available on Movistar+’s iOS and Android apps. The AI tool will enable users to talk to their pay-TV platform to find content, look for recommendations or explore the line-up, among other features.

The move anticipates future Aura implementations in other Telefónica pay-TV platforms in Latin America, namely, Chile and Brazil.

In addition to the Movistar+ integration, the AI assistant has been also deployed through customer relation’s apps in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, UK and Germany.

Announced during MWC 2018, Aura will be core for Movistar Home, an in-home digital hub that will be released in Spain later this year.
