Distributed computing firm Intertrust has announced a partnership with Adobe to provide cloud-based digital rights management (DRM) services for the latter’s Primetime media platform.

Adobe Primetime sees use in personalising, monetising and measuring TV content across screens and the partnership will see Intertrust add Adobe Access to its ExpressPlay DRM service, thereby allowing Primetime to provide a cloud-based multi-DRM service to customers worldwide.

ExpressPlay already works with a number of major DRM formats, including Marlin, Microsoft PlayReady, Apple FairPlay and Google's Widevine technology protecting content on devices from mobile to television, and Web applications for video.

“We're ultimately providing better value to the marketplace,” said Intertrust chief product officer Tim Schaaff. “By leveraging the ExpressPlay service, Adobe's customers now gain the ability to deliver high-quality content across a diverse set of hardware and software platforms.”

“ExpressPlay is a trusted solution for managing digital content rights and offers a broad set of functionality," added Jeremy Helfand, vice president, Adobe Primetime. “We can now better solve the complexity of multi-DRM for our customers by giving Primetime customers the ability to protect their content with a solution that simplifies and streamlines workflows.”
