The internet is now more popular than TV in Croatia across a range of areas.
Quoting research undertaken by Ipsos and the leading media brand 24sata, Poslovni reports that 61% of Croatians now use the internet as their main source of information, compared to 29% for TV. The study also found that 66% of Croatians claimed they could find information on anything in the internet, while 20% said the same about TV. Furthermore, 40% expressed confidence in the internet, with TV lagging by 1.6%.
The internet is also used much more frequently than TV, with 45% of respondents claiming to do so for more than four hours each day. At the same time, only 10% watch TV for more than four hours on weekdays, with the figure rising to 25% at weekends.
In addition, while 89% surf in the morning, only 36% then watch TV.
The research also found that 22% of respondents switch their attention to computers or smartphones when commercials appear on their TV screens.
It also found that the internet is more preferred as a source of information about products and services (50.8%) than TV (29.6%).
